RAMSEY FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> BODY SPECIFICATIONS <br /> <br />SUBFRAME <br /> <br />The underbody sub-frame shall be manufactured as a complete pump and body mounting fixture <br />and a tank support cradle. It shall be constructed to permit total manufacture of the entire body <br />and separate pump house structure, including the pump and plumbing, prior to the actual <br />mounting on the chassis. There shall be a minimum of four structural members running laterally <br />across the chassis frame rails, welded to two longitudinal members of the same material. This <br />complete subframe will also cradle the booster tank. Two of the horizontal members shall <br />protrude out from the longitude support members and serve as additional body support. <br /> <br />The forward section of the support subframe under the pump shall be fabricated of structural <br />steel. The rear tailboard support area shall be fabricated of steel and connected to the body <br />subframe. There shall be a bolted-in steel gusset furnished to provide additional support to the <br />rear tailboard assembly. The body subframe shall be fastened to the chassis frame with a <br />minimum of grade 5 bolts <br /> <br />COMPARTMENTS <br /> <br />ALL compartments to be sweep out design and to be water and dust proof. All compartments <br />shall be made to the maximum storage capacity. The apparatus body and all sub-assemblies shall <br />be constructed with a holding fixture and built separately from the chassis. The body sub <br />assemblies shall be welded together. After the body has been completed, the complete apparatus <br />body shall be welded to a combination channel iron subframe. The subframe shall be bolted to <br />the chassis frame rails so it may be easily removed from the truck chassis. There shall be no <br />welding to the chassis frame rail sides, web or flanges, or drilling of holes in the top or bottom <br />frame flanges between axles. <br /> <br />BODY STRUCTURE WIDTH <br /> <br />The body width shall be 8' min from the outside of the left compartment(s) to the outside of the <br />fight compartment(s). <br /> <br />Page 18 of 33 <br /> <br /> <br />
