RAMSEY FIRE DEPARTMENT
BODY SPECIFICATIONS

AS AMERICA ROLL-UP DOORS or equivalent

Exterior compartment doors shall be AS America, LLC, brand Roll-up doors. All exterior
components to include box lath, latch lath, guide channels and the top seal shall be constructed of
etched/anodized aluminum.

The roller shutter lath, latch lath, guide channels, weather top seal, and all exposed aluminum
components shall be constructed entirely of aluminum extrusion (6000 series). Laths shall be a
minimum of 1 1/2" in width not to exceed 1 5/8". Lath material shall maintain a wall thickness
of. 138" with a maximum overall thickness of .350".

Curtain for roll-up door shall incorporate an extruded rubber hinge between each lath to insure
that no mechanical hinge will be formed. A hinge of this type would promote wear as dirt and
road grit, gathered from normal operation accumulated in between each of the lath, and is not the
desired construction. Hinge material shall be constructed of a flexible elastomer material,
E.P.D.M. (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) rubber. This construction shall insure that a
flexible and weather resistant seal shall be maintained. Interior surface of the roll-up lath shall be
smooth in finish, no exception. Top seal shall also be constructed of E.P.D.M. rubber.

Side seals and base seals shall be constructed of solid Neoprene for its resistance to solvents and
weather.

The extruded guide channels shall have the ability of being fastened to the body through the use
of raised head fasteners. Guide channels shall incorporate casted aluminum ramps in their
construction to guide the curtain onto the roller tube. The guide channels shall incorporate a
weather seal also constructed of E.P.D.M. rubber. Guide channels and the seal shall be capable
of being installed as one component.

Latching mechanisms shall be included at the edge of each side of the latch bar. Latching shall
be independent of each other. Mechanisms shall be tied together with a stainless steel latch bar.
Operation of the door shall be accomplished through the use of the latch bar. Latch bars shall be
accessible throughout its entire length. Latch bar shall not move away from its position
during closure of the door. The use of angle extrusions for aiding in the closure shall not be
acceptable.

Roller shall be mounted in top of the compartment and shall have spring tension pre-set at the
factory, prior to installation. Information shall be included on top of the roller tube to include:
roller direction, number of revolutions for tension, and serial number of the roller (to match the
curtain).
L.B.N.S. (Latched But Not Secure) switches shall be located within strike plates on each side of
the door. Switches shall be sealed to protect from the elements. L.B.N.S. switches shall control
compartment lighting and door ajar circuits.
