RAMSEY FIRE DEPARTMENT
BODY SPECIFICATIONS

Alternator Performance Test At Full Load

The total continuous electrical toad shall be activated with the engine running up to the engine
manufacturer's governed speed. The test duration shall be a minimum of 2 hours. Activation of
the load management system shall be permitted during the test. However, an alarm sounded by
excessive battery discharge, as detected by the system required to notify apparatus personnel of
electrical system failure, or a system voltage of less that 11.7 volts dc for a 12 volt nominal
system for more that 120 seconds, shall be considered a test failure.

Low Voltage Alarm Test

Following completion of the above tests, the engine shall be shut off. The total continuous
electrical load shall be activated and shall continue to be applied until the excessive battery
discharge alarm activates.

The battery voltage shall be measured at the battery terminals. With the load still applied, a
reading of less that 11.7 volts dc for a 12 volt nominal system shall be considered a test failure.

The battery system shall then be capable of restarting the engine. Failure to restart the engine
shall be considered test failure.

Custom Chassis
CUSTOM CHASSIS

The apparatus shall be manufactured using a custom chassis. The chassis manufacturer shall be
notified of the purpose of the chassis as a fire apparatus. There shall be a specification to detail
the items included in the chassis.
