Shed and/or gable dormers which do not exceed one-third the length of the <br />bearing wall (sidewall) below shall be allowed in the upper level (attic <br />area). <br />Knee walls, cripple walls, or cantilevers anywhere on the upper level (attic <br />area) are prohibited in residential districts. <br />Gambrel roofs (barn style) are permitted. <br /> <br /> Subd. 6 No part of an accessory building shall extend into any required setback <br />area other than the rear setback where such building may extend to within five feet of the rear <br />lot line. <br /> <br /> Subd. 7 No accessory building shall be located nearer the fi:ont lot line than the <br />principal building on that lot (this provision shall not apply to attached garages that maintain <br />compliance with the front yard setback). <br /> <br /> Subd. 8 An accessory building shall be attached to and shall be made structurally a <br />part of the principal building if it is within five feet cave to cave of the principal building. <br /> <br />Subd. 9 The primary residential garage, attached or detached, shall be considered <br />an accessory building. <br /> <br />Subd. 10 All detached accessory buildings shall be located in the side or rear yards. <br /> <br /> Subd. 11 When detached accessory buildings are located within ten feet of the side <br />or rear wall of the principal building, they shall comply with all yard requirements applicable to <br />the principal building in that district.
