27m Annual Minnesota State Planning Conference <br /> <br />Political boundaries sometimes hinder good planning. How can you successfully organize <br />planning efforts that span muldple jurisdictions? <br /> Mr. Ringwald will provide examples from the 1-35W Corridor Coalition. Through the <br />"Metropolitan Towns" project, the Coalition attempted to strengthen an existing neighborhood, <br />the West Lake Johanna Neighborhood, which spans Arden Hills, New Brighton, and Roseville. <br />The collaborative plan includes fiscal, 'zoning, and educational devices to ensure continued <br />private reinvestment in this neighborhood. Minneapolis has begun the planning process to ensure that its neighborhoods will <br />benefit from stations located along the rail route. <br /> Ms. MacKenzie will discuss City planning efforts and provide a preview of!~tation area <br />development. Participate in this discussion of <br /> the kinds of tools available to help save valuable farmland <br /> Ms. Benson will provide an overview of Stearns Couno/'s effort to prese~e farmland through <br />the use of the LESA (Land Evaluation and Site Assessment) system. Mr. Patton will present <br />result~ of the MnDA's recent analysis undertaken to provide information and direction to policy <br />makers on farmland preservation.
