PERSONNEL COMMITTEE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Personnel Committee conducted a meeting on Tuesday, December 9, 1997, at the <br />Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />Councilmember Sheila Beyer <br />Councilmember Natalie Haas Steffen <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br />Acting City Administrator Linda Waite Smith <br />Police Chief David Gustafson <br />Fire Chief Dean Kapler <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Councilmember Beyer called the regular meeting of the Personnel Committee to order at 6:00 <br />p.m. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: Recommend Hiring Nicholas Stolp as Patrol Officer <br /> <br />Acting City Administrator Waite Smith reported that the City has been notified that they are <br />approved for a special levy due to participation in the COPSFAST program, because salary costs <br />associated with COPSFAST hires were imposed within the levy limits. As a result, the Police <br />Department has a new patrol officer position open effective January 1, 1998. Nicholas Stolp is <br />the next person on the eligible list of the applicants that were rated, ranked and interviewed in <br />February. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Haas Steffen and seconded by Mayor Gamec to recommend Council <br />authorize hiring Nicholas Stolp as a Patrol Officer, effective January 3, 1998, at an annual salary <br />of $31,723, contingent on his successfully passing background checks, a physical examination <br />and a psychological examination. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Haas Steffen and Beyer. Voting <br />No: None. <br /> <br />Case #2: Authorize Hiring Community Development Assistant <br /> <br />Acting City Administrator Waite Smith stated that staff has made the Community Development <br />Assistant position offer to a gentleman, however, his current employer wants him to stay.
