Voting <br />No: None. <br /> <br />Case #3: <br /> <br />Appoint City Representative to Anoka-Hennepin Community Education <br />Advisory Council <br /> <br />Acting City Administrator Waite Smith recalled a request from Dennis Carlson, Community <br />Education Director for the Anoka-Hennepin School District, for a Ramsey representative to serve <br />on the Anoka-Hermepin Community Education Advisory Council. No one on the City Council <br />is available for the evenings the meetings are scheduled. <br /> <br />Councilmember Haas Steffen suggested contacting the PTA and the Community Education <br />office at the Ramsey Elementary School to see if they have someone who could represent <br />Ramsey on this advisory council. <br /> <br />No motion is necessary. <br /> <br />Case #4: Consider Pay Increase for Volunteer Fire Fighters <br /> <br />Acting City Administrator Waite Smith stated that, currently, the Fire Department Officers <br />receive a small salary and all Fire Fighters who are past probation are paid $7.60 per hour for fire <br />calls and $5.00 per meeting, and $5.00 per hour for drills or community events. She presented a <br />chart comparing fire department rates paid by other Stanton Class 6 cities in 1996, as well as the <br />proposed increases for Ramsey for 1998 ($8.20/hour and $6.00/hour for events) and 1999 <br />($9.00/hour and $6.00/hour for events). She noted that Ramsey is paying significantly lower <br />than the other cities it is compared to. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec and seconded by Councilmember Haas Steffen to approve increases in <br />compensation for the Fire Department personnel as presented, effective January 1, 1998. The <br />increase is for the one year. The motion only includes for the year 1998. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Haas Steffen and Beyer.
