Absent: Commis.~oners Terry, Thorud, and Wivoda Case #2: Request for Revised Site Plato Approval; Case of Amcon Corporation Zoning Administrator Frolik explained a revised site plan for approval fi.om Amcon Corporation was rec~v~ The plan approved in 1997 was for a 49,390 square foot office, manufacturing and warehouse facility. The approved plan included a future expansion of appro~m~tely 20,000 square feet. She stated the developer has made a deci_ision to construct the entire structure in one phase and rims the site plan approval needs to be amended for a 69,440 square foot facility. Zoning gdmlnL~trator Frolik stated all of the plans are in conformance with height and setback renrictions and will consist of pre-case concrete panels. She indicated a Landscape Plan was received and st.ted staffis recommending site pbn approval contingent upon compliance with the City StaffReview Letter dated February 2.7, 1998. Commissioner 3'ensen asked if there would be sufficient screening along St, nfish Lake Road. Zoning Administrator Frolik stated the Park Commission would be reviewing the Landscape Plan and indicated the southeastern corner could use additional landscaping along Sunfish Lake Road and noted there had been natural screening in place prior to the 1uly I, 1997 storm. Commission~ Deemer inquired what types of trees were along Sunfish Lake Road. Scott Query (SP), Amcon l~.epresentative, indicated the trees are Native Red Pines and Oak trees. He stated Amcon's Landscape Dkector was instructed to design ~ landscape with the areas natural species. He said clearing would need to be done, however, indicated they would attempt to save as many trees as poss~le. " Zoning Administrator Frolik requemd Amc, on ~ubmit a full sc__.ale l~dscape plan for the Parks Commission to review. Commissioner Deemer suggested a Lilac Hedge be considered for planting beside flae Sunfi~ Lake Road driveway, as opposed to trees. He stated the intent of ~he plantings would be to screen the parking area from normal walking height. He inquired on Amcon's plan for outdoor lighting. Mr. Query (SP) indicated they would be inst,lling 400 watt halogen lights on the wails, angled with protective shielding. Motion by Commissioner Deemer, seconded by Commissioner Sensen, to recommend that City Council approve the revised site plan for Amcon contingent upon compliance with ~ City Staff Review Letter dated February 27, 1998.
