Case #2: Receive Recommendation for Planning Commission Appointments Administrative Services Manager Waite Smith explained that she received six applications for the two vacancies on the Planning Commission. Five of the people were interviewed by a panel consisting of the Chair and Vice Chair of the Planning Commission, Mayor Gamec, Councilmember Beyer and the Administrative Services Manager. All candidates were asked the same questions. The sixth applicant (Leo Anderson) had indicated he would not be available for the interviews conducted on February 19. The interviewing panel recommended appointing Joe Wivoda for one of the vacancies, but to wait to appoint the second person until an interview can be conducted with Mr. Anderson. Motion by Mayor Gamee and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to recommend that Council appoint Joe Wivoda to fill one of the vacancies on the Planning Commission for a term to expire December 31, 2001, and that the second vacancy will be appointed following the completion of the interview with Mr. Anderson. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec and Councilmember Beyer. Voting No: None. COMMITTEE INPUT 1) Fire Fighter Interviews Administrative Services Manager stated that interviews will be conducted with the fire fighter candidates in the next week, so a recommendation should be on the next Personnel Committee agenda. ADJOURNMENT Consensus of the Committee was to adjourn the meeting.
