I <br />I <br /> <br />Letter Re Park Development <br />February 17, 1998 <br />Page 2 of 2 <br /> <br />LAWFUL GAMBLING FUND PARK IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM <br /> <br />This year the Park and Recreation Commission has $4,000 available to match volunteer <br />r:ontribufions for park related projects of your choosing. Each volunteer hour is worth $7.00 an <br />l~our! Potential projects could include the installation of trees, building picnic tables, etc. If you are <br />interested in this opportunity, call City Hall (427-1410) and an application will be mailed to you, or <br />talk to one of the Commissioners. <br /> <br />TREE PLANTING GRANT <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey, Anoka Electric Cooperative, Good Value Homes, Ramsey Shademakers, and <br />Twin Cities Tree Trust have partnered to implement a $9,648 Mn ReLEAF Community Tree <br />Planting Grant. With funding from Mn ReLEAF, Anoka Electric Cooperative and Good Value <br />Homes, 330 trees will be planted in the Regency Pond development and along the trail corridor <br />bordering on the east side. Regency Pond development residents will receive 246 trees to plant on <br />private property for energy conservation. Volunteers are needed to plant 84 trees on the trail <br />corridor to enhance wildlife habitat and restore native plant species. If you would like to volunteer <br />for the planting contact Mark Wever, Twin Cities Tree Trust, (920-9326) or Bruce Bacon, City of <br />Ramsey, (427-1410). <br /> <br />Please take time to fill out the enclosed questionnaire and return by February 27, 1998. At the <br />Commission's March 12, 1998 meeting, the results will be collated and a request for proposal will <br />be asked for from play equipment vendors (should the majority of respondents desire a playground). <br />A park plan will also be developed from your responses. If you are not able to mail or drop offyour <br />questionnaire, you may fax it to 427-5543.
