I I I I I I I I I I ,I I I I I I I I CASE # AUTHORIZE RESOLUTION SUPPORTING COUNCILMEMBER NATALIE HAAS STEFFEN FOR ASSOCIATION OF METROPOLITAN MUNICIPALITIES BOARD OF DIRECTORS By: James E. Norman, City Administrator Background: The Association of Metropolitan Municipalities (AMM) is made up of 71 member cities in the greater Twin Cities Metropolitan Area. The mission of AMM is to be a service and lobby organization for member municipalities. AMM is governed by a board of directors of local officials from member cities which includes a president, vice president, past president, and 16 directors, serving staggered two-year terms. Board members are elected at the general membership annual meeting in May. The representation on the Board of Directors is developed to be consistent, geographically, with city membership. The Board of Directors meets monthly to guide the general organization operations and to direct staff. Nominations are currently being solicited for four vacancies on the AMM Board, effective June, 1998. Councilmember Haas Steffen has indicated an interest in serving as a representative to the AMM Board of Directors. As part of the nomination process, a resolution has been prepared for Council consideration. Council Action: Motion to adopt Resolution #98-04-_~s~upporting Councilmember Natalie Haas Steffen as a representative to the Association of Metropolitan Municipalities Board of Directors.
