I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br />'1 <br /> I <br /> I <br />'1 <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br />INTERNAL JOB POSTING <br /> <br />POSITION: POLICE CORPORAL <br /> <br />IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: POLICE SERGEANT <br /> <br />PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION: Performs responsible police work <br />involving the protection and safety of the community through prevention and control of <br />crime, maintaining or restoring public order, investigating crime, regulating traffic, <br />enforcing laws, providing emergency services; performs related duties as required. <br />Perf :rms additim. ~tl tasks and projects not required of a regular patrol officer, including <br />overseeing the recruitment, training and scheduling of Volunteer Public Safety Aides. <br /> <br />SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: In addition to responsibilities of a regular <br />Patrol Officer, the Corporal has the following responsibilities: <br /> <br />Bo <br /> <br />Eo <br /> <br />Develops and implements a plan to recruit a cadre of volunteer Public Safety <br />Aides to assist with community events and crime prevention activities. <br />Evaluates the suitability of applicants for volunteer Public Safety Aide program. <br />Arranges training for Volunteer Public Safety Aides. <br />Evaluates the post-training suitability of candidates to serve as volunteer Public <br />Safety Aides. <br />Develops and maintains the volunteer duty schedule. <br />Monitors ongoing performance of volunteer Public Safety Aides and recommends <br />retention in or release from the program. <br /> <br />POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Must be a full-time employee in good standing with <br />the Ramsey Police Department. Minimum of five years experience as a peace officer. <br />Must have received training in Community Policing. <br /> <br />SELECTION PROCESS: Qualified applicants for this assignment will be required to <br />complete, submit and explain a detailed written plan to develop and implement a <br />Volunteer Public Safety Aide program for the City of Ramsey. Specific elements that <br />should be included in the plan are available in an information/application packet. <br /> <br />DEADLINE for completed applications, including written plan, is July 8, 1998. <br /> <br />RATE OF PAY:: $110 per month in addition to regular salary <br /> <br />If interested, please see Linda Waite Smith for an information/application packet. <br /> <br /> <br />
