CITY OF RAMSEY POSITION ANALYSIS <br /> <br />Position Title: <br /> <br />Department: <br /> <br />Position Title of Immediate Supervisor': <br /> <br />Police Corporal <br />Police <br /> <br />Sergeant <br /> <br />Pi:Z: 'MARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION: <br /> <br />Performs responsible police work involving the protection and safety of the community <br />through prevention and control of crime, maintaining or restoring public order, <br />investigating crime, regulating traffic, enforcing laws, and providing emergency services; <br />and performs related duties as required. Performs additional tasks and projects not <br />required of a regular patrol officer, including overseeing the recruitment, training and <br />scheduling of Volunteer Public Safety Aides. <br /> <br />RESPONSIBILITIES: <br /> <br />Co <br /> <br />H. <br />I. <br />J. <br />K. <br />L. <br />M. <br />N. <br /> <br />Patrols the community to enforce laws and city ordinances, detect and prevent crime, <br />protect life and property, respond to complaints, and maintain or restore public order. <br />Apprehends and arrests law violators, identifies suspects, and prepares written reports of <br />crimes and incidents. <br />Enforces traffic laws, operates radar, writes citations, and controls parking. <br />Responds to accident scenes, fires, and rescue operations; administers first aid until more <br />qualified personnel arrives on the scene, and directs traffic flow; investigates accidents, <br />and prepares related reports. <br />Conducts criminal investigations including collecting and preserving evidence, <br />interviewing witnesses and victims and recording their statements, interrogating suspects, <br />gathering information from informants and experts, participating in undercover activity, <br />researching files, and preparing related reports. <br />Assists other agencies such as the county, area communities, and the State Highway <br />Patrol as needed. <br />Testifies in courts as arresting officer and assists in preparing legal documents. <br />Checks businesses to ensure no vandalism or break-ins have occurred. <br />Maintains community relations and instructs on crime prevention issues. <br />Operates computer to access or enter data; uses departmental software packages. <br />Performs routine inspections of patrol car. <br />Oversees training for Volunteer Public Safety Aides. <br />Develops and maintains the volunteer duty schedule. <br />Performs other duties as assigned (within the ability and resources of the Corporal) at the <br />verbal or written direction of the Sergeant or Police Chief. <br /> <br />Patrol Officer <br />Page 1 of 5 <br /> <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br />I' <br /> I <br /> I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I: <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br /> <br />
