REQUIRED ASSIGNMENT FOR <br />POLICE CORPORAL POSITION <br />June 1998 <br /> <br />Letter of Interest: <br /> <br />Please include an explanation of how your qualifications (training and experience) meet <br />the position requirements. <br /> <br />Also include a list of projects you have developed, implemented, assisted with, or are in <br />the process of doing. Describe project outcomes, if any, and how the skills and <br />knowledge used or learned in these projects will be an asset in the Corporal position. <br /> <br />Plan to Develop and Maintain Cadre of Volunteer Safety Aides: <br /> <br />Purpose of the Volunteer Group <br /> <br />Taking into account the expectations the Police Chief and City Administrator have <br />expressed for this unit, along with your own ideas, describe the activities/contributions <br />you think the Volunteer Public Safety Aides will bring to the Department/City. <br /> <br />Describe how you think this unit can be integrated into the Department's exisiting <br />community policing activities and projects. Take into account the half-time Public Safety <br />Aide who is already on staff, any joint projects the Department has done in the past with <br />civic groups or other public agencies. Give your opinion about whether Department <br />participation in these existing or past projects should be scaled back or expanded. <br />Explain why you believe that. <br /> <br />Model Policy <br /> <br />Design and write a model policy entitled "Volunteer Public Safety Aide Unit" to be <br />included in the Ramsey Police Department Policy and Procedures Manual. The policy <br />should spell out how the unit and its members will be administered under the direction of <br />a Corporal. Keep in mind Minnesota State Statutes when detailing what civilian <br />volunteers are and are not allowed to do. <br /> <br />Recruitment of Volunteers <br /> <br />Based on your vision of the Volunteer unit, what methods will you employ to generate <br />community interest and attract an ample pool of candidates? <br /> <br /> <br />
