She supported using this building in such a way as to attract the public
and children and keep the history of the City.

Counailmember Zimmerman asked if the City would be obligated to spend tax money on the
building once it is determined if it should stay and asked how much has been spent so far. He
stated the former administrator had indicated that it could cost over $100,000 to get the building
in shape and he would oppose that type of expenditure of tax dollars. Couneilmember
Zimmerman stated that this may be a good project for a group to undertake but as for Ramsey tax
dollars, he is not sure.

Couneilmember Haas Steffen pointed out that residents would not have to be the only contributor
since there is a possibility of grant funds if the building is under the ownership of the City of
Ramsey which undergoes an annual audit. She indicated there are grants available to help with
renovation and suggested staff talk to Dale Winch of Anoka County regarding the letter of
understanding passed while she served on the County Board which deals with buildings the
County supported to go on the National and State Historical Registry. Councilmember Haas
Steffen stated that she would like to learn if there is any obligation on the County of A.uoka. She
pointed out this would also be tax payers dollars but that is who pays to keep historical buildings.

Councilmember Zimmerman made comments about the Anoka/Champlin bridge which is also a
historical feature.

Motion Carded.
