CASE #2

!~acl~ground:

UPDATE ON C.R. #I 16
(IMPROVEMENT PROJECT #97-25)
By: Steve Jankowski, City Engineer

or e extension of C.R. #116 between C.R. #56 and C.R.. #83 has been scheduled for construction
late 1998. The County has hired SRF, Inc. to prepare plans and specifications for the
oOadway. The City of Ramsey is pro',dding right-of-way for the project and has initiated actions
address wetland mitigation which has been determined to be unavoidable. At this time the
following activities have been completed:
I An environmental assessment worksheet has been prepared and submitted for agency
comment. The Comment period ends on June 17, 1998.

I
I
I
I

The eminent domain proceedings /'or acquisition of the necessary right-of-way and
wetland mitigation area have been commenced, and the City will acquire title to the land
on July 15, 1998.

An engineer's estimate has been prepared and is attached. This estimate shows the City
having an 11.7% share of the construction costs or a total mount of $71,504. This cost
is attributable to two project elements. First is a bituminous path which will parallel the
roadway on the north. The second element includes the excavation of wetland beyond
what was needed by the project for mitigation. This wetland was proposed to be
excavated solely for the purpose ofpartially compensating the landowner for the purchase
of property.

Committee Action:

Based upon discussion.

Reviewed by:
R&B:

City Administrator
City Attorney
Public Works Director
Finance Officer

6II 6198

I&as
