Recent department head appointments have been subject to one-year <br />probationary period with performance reviews scheduled at six and twelve months. <br /> <br />Councilmember Haas Steffen referred to the three weeks vacation and asked if there are <br />any stipulations about how long one has to be in the position before they can take that <br />third week. For example, could Ms. Lund take the third week prior to being in the <br />position one year. <br /> <br />Ms. Waite Smith replied yes, to which Councilmember Haas Steffen suggested that <br />practice get reviewed. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued relating to the three weeks of vacation. It was noted that Ms. Waite <br />Smith was not offered that same benefit when she was hired and that this should be <br />brought to the Personnel Committee for review. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Garnet and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to recommend Council <br />adopt the resolution appointing Diana J. Lund Finance Officer, effective July 24, 1998, <br />subject to a one-year probationary period with performance reviews at six and twelve <br />months, at $52,500 annual salary, and three'weeks of vacation. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec and Councilmember Beyer. Voting No: <br />None. Absent: None. <br /> <br />Case #2: Recommend Authorization to Fill Senior Accountant Position <br /> <br />Administrative Services Manager Waite Smith stated that now that Ms. Lund has been <br />appointed Finance Officer, the Senior Accountant position is vacant. This is an exempt <br />position that works closely with the Finance Officer to administer the Finance <br />Department Computer system and prepare the annual audit report, among other duties. <br />The Senior Accountant provides work direction to the Accounting Clerk and the Clerk <br />Typist. The salary range for the position is $30,986 to $41,873. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Garnet and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to recommend that <br />Council authorize staff to begin the process to replace the Senior Accountant. <br /> <br />Motion carried.
