A total <br />of 9 bids were received as shown on the attached tabulation. The bids ranged from <br />$176,017.50 to $209,414.50. The three Iow bids and the engineer's estimate were as <br />follows: <br /> <br />BIDDER. <br />Julian M. Johnson Const. <br />Forest Lake Contracting <br />Redstone Construction <br /> <br />BID AMOUNT <br /> <br />$176,017.50 <br />$178,461.50 <br />$178,6O8.22 <br /> <br />Engineer's Estimate <br /> <br />$189,185.00 <br /> <br />In comparing the bids to the Engineer's Estimate, the Iow bid is approximately 7 percent <br />below the Engineer's estimate. <br /> <br />Julian M. Johnson Construction is a local contractor who has satisfactorily completed <br />projects in the metropolitan area. We, therefore, recommend that the project be <br />awarded to Julian M.
