CASE

REPORT FROM ROAD AND BRIDGE COMMITTEE
By: Steve Jankowski, City Engineer

Background:

The Road and Bridge Committee met on Tuesday, September 16, 1998, and discussed the
following cases. A summary of each and any follow-up actions are described below.

Case #1: Drainage Easement Filling

This case involved the City response to the partial filling of a drainage easement on Lot 1
and 2 of Block 2 of Pondvale 2nd Addition. Direction was given by the Road and Bridge
Committee that the City contact the owners and suggest that (1) the placed fill be
removed; (2) four inches of topsoil be imported and spread over the side slopes of the
ponding area; (3) that sod be placed on the side slope. All the above work would be
performed by the City. An estimate of the cost of the work would be presented at the
October 13, 1998 Council meeting.

Council action will be required at that future meeting.

Case #2: Access to Foster Cemetery

The City has acquired an access easement to Foster Cemetery through an easement
prepared by the attorney for Bury and Carlson at the time the Bury and Carlson Addition
was platted. This was done as a development agreement condition. The City Attorney
was requested to review the agreement and a motion was made to direct Public Works to
construct a minimum maintenance road to the site.

No Council action necessary.

Case #3:

Consider Advancing the Signalization of C.R. #116 and Dysprosium
Street

The City of Ramsey had sent a letter of support to Anoka County last February for the
signalization of the intersection of C.R. #116 and Dysprosium. Councilmember Haas
Steffen indicated that County Commissioner Berg indicated that there was no such
support from the City of ~moka which shares the fourth leg of this intersection on
Thurston Avenue. She reported that the project may also require turn lanes and possible
an extension of the four lane to T.PI. #47. The Committee directed the City Engineer to
investigate the possibility of a modest cost project which might include just temporary
signals to avoid the wait for a larger, more costly project.

No Council action is necessary at this time.
