Current staff is heavily involved in other ongoing projects as well as
day-to-day operations. Rather than take a chance on inadequate attention being given to
some of the extraordinary projects, staff is requesting approval to hire a part-time'
administrative intern for the last quarter of 1998. The approximate cost would be $3,000,
which would be taken from the contingency fund.

Committee Action:
Recommend that City Council authorize staff to hire a part-time administrative intern for
the last quarter of 1998; and

adopt the attached resolution to transfer $3,000 from the contingency fund to the
Administrative Services cost center 130.

Reviewed by:
City Administrator
Administrative Services Manager
Finance Officer

Also distributed to:

PC: 09/22/98
