CASE

CONSIDER AUTHORIZATION OF IMPROVEMENT PROJECT #98-16
(BITUMINOUS PAVING OF BISON STREET FROM
171ST AVENUE TO A POINT 1000 FEET SOUTH THEREOF)

Background:

A feasibility study on Project #98-I6 was presented to the City Council on June 9, 1998, which
outlines the feasibility and costs associated with the paving of Bison Street. A copy of this
feasibility study is attached. A public hearing was held on August 11, 1998. No comments were
received at this public hearing. The costs of the project are proposed to be special assessed under
Chapter 429 of the Minnesota State Statutes. The City Charter requires such projects provide a
60-day period following the close of the public hearing to allow citizens to petition against the
project. Sixty days has now elapsed since the date of the hearing and no petitions regarding the
project have been received. The City Council may proceed with the authorization of this project
by directing the preparation of plans and specifications for the street improvement.

Council Action:

Motion to adopt Resolution #98-10-XXX authorizing the preparation of plans and specifications
for Improvement Project #98-16 in accordance with the feasibility study.

Reviewed by:

City Administrator
City Attorney
Director of Public Works
Finance Officer

CC: 10/13/98
