I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br />:1 <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> <br />DRAFT <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Planning Commission conducted a public hearing on Tuesday, October 6, 1998, at <br />the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota, regarding a <br />request for a home occupation permit to establish a dog grooming business in the R-1 Residential <br />District; case of Julie Kucia. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Acting Chairperson Benjamin Deemer <br />Commissioner Leo Anderson <br />Commissioner Sharon Jensen <br />Commissioner Charles LaDue <br />Commissioner Joe Wivoda <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />Chairperson David Bawden <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Community Development Director Cindy Sherman <br />Community Development Assistant Sean Walther <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Acting Chairperson Deemer convened the public heating at 7:35 p.m. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION <br /> <br />Community Development Director Sherman explained the applicant is requesting a home <br />occupation permit to establish and operate a dog grooming business in the home at 16511 <br />Yttrium Street NW which is zoned R-1 Rural Residential. The applicant is proposing to operate <br />the business from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and anticipates servicing <br />approximately 20 clients per week. The area of the home devoted to the business will not exceed <br />20-percent of the gross floor area of the home. The applicant will be the sole employee of the <br />business and no outside employees will be hired. No exterior storage of materials or equipment is <br />necessary and the dogs will be held indoors from the time they are dropped offfor grooming until <br />they are picked up by their owners. The driveway is sufficient in length to provide off-street <br />parking to customers. <br /> <br />Community Development Director Sherman indicated the applicant requested permission to <br />display a small business sign on the property. The Home Occupation section of City Code <br />prohibits any signage that is not authorized by the City's sign regulations for Residential districts. <br />However, similar requests have been granted in the past. <br /> <br />Public Hearing/Planning Commission/October 6, 1998 <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br /> <br /> <br />
