City of Ramsey

15153NOWTHEN BOULEVARD N.W., RAMSEY, MINNESOTA 55303

PHONE (612) 427-1410 FAX (612) 427-5543
TDD (612) 427-8591

November 10, 1998

Mr. Craig Gray, P.E.
Anoka City Engineer
2015 First Avenue North
Anoka, MN 55303

Re: Storm Sewer Connection

Dear Mr. Gray:

This letter is being written pursuant to Mr. John Harwood's memorandum of September 28, I998
regarding the possibility of a storm water connection between Ramsey and Anoka near our
common border between the Ramsey Business Park 95 and Anoka's Enterprise Park. At a
subsequent meeting, you requested a map showing the drainage area that would be contributing
to the storm water flow from Ramsey into Anoka. The limit of this area would be the entire area
bounded on the north by C.R. #116, on the west by C.R. #57, on the south by the Burlington
Northern Railroad, and on the east by the City ofAnoka. I calculate this area to be 113.8 acres.

The City of Ramsey has made liberal use of on-site ponding wherever feasible, with the overflow
ultimately being transmitted to the large detention pond located in the southeasternmost corner of
our industrial park. It would be a safe assumption to conclude that any discharge from the City
of Ramsey's system would flow through the City of Anoka's system after the peak flow period
from Anoka's storm discharge. Mr. Harwood is familiar with the drainage characteristics of this
area and can confirm this assumption. Should we decide that this would be the alternative to
pursue, calculations can be submitted to verify this assumption.

At this time, the City of Ramsey would request that you advise us of the cost of such a proposed
connection. Certainly that will be a factor in making the decision between the available
alternatives.

Sincerely,

CITY OF RAMSEY

City Engineer

SJJ/jmk
cc: James E.
