Voting No: None. <br /> <br /> Case #5: Report from Finance Committee <br /> <br /> 1) Authorize Various1998 Capital Outlay Purchases ~ ~ ~ [~ ~ <br /> This item was deleted at adoption of the agenda. <br /> <br />2) Public Works Facility <br /> <br /> This item was deleted at adoption of the agenda. <br /> <br />Case #6: Consider Authorizing Temporary Assistance to Complete TIF Audit <br /> <br />Ms. Waite Smith reviewed that Robert Thistle of Springsted has recommended someone be hired <br />on a temporary basis to assist in the TIF audit. Staff requests authorization to hire a person to <br />provide temporary assistance at a cost not to exceed $5,000. <br /> <br />Councilmember Haas Steffen asked how many finance people are working in the City. <br /> <br />Ms. Waite Smith reviewed the members of the Finance Department. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated without the Economic Development Coordinator, the Finance Department <br />has had to take on some of that responsibility and many year end reports have taken much of the <br />Department's time. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec congratulated Scan Walthers on his excellent job on the recycling report. <br /> <br />Councilmember Haas Steffen asked why the Finance Officer doesn't do the TIF work and the <br />temporary person do the everyday chores. <br /> <br />Ms. Waite Smith stated much of the work the Finance Office does could not be done by someone <br />"offthe street." <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Haas Steffen, and seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman, to <br />authorize the hiring of temporary assistance to complete the TIF Audit. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Haas Steffen, Zimmerman, and <br />Beahen. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec complimented Linda Waite Smith for the job she has been doing as Acting City <br />Administrator. <br /> <br />Ms. Waite Smith thanked the staff for their support. <br /> <br />City Council/January 27, 1998 <br /> Page 9 of 11 <br /> <br /> <br />
