April 30. 1998 7:00 p.~ <br /> Ramsey Blementary School <br /> <br />Nearly 45 City of Ramsey residents, bnsinr.ss owners and-propexty owners attended a meeting at P, amsey <br />Elementary School on Thursday evening April 30~ to discuss the futura of th~ Mizsissippi P, iwr Corridor. <br />The Hoislngton Koegler Croup and City Staff conducted the m~eting. Also attending the meeting were <br />staff persons from the Dopam~.at of Natural Resources, the Mcu-opolitan Council, the National Park <br />Service, and srzff from the City of Dayton and the City of Champlin. <br /> <br />Introduction and Purpose <br />The nmeting began with an inlroduction by 'Ramsey Mayor Tom Garnet. Mayor Garnet briefly explained <br />that this meeting was a part of the process to upda~ the City's Comprehvnsive Plzm and that the publics' <br />participation is very valuable and integral to the completion of the Comprehensive Plan. Mayor Cramec <br />introduced Brad Scheib from the Hoisington Y,.oegler Croup, the consulumt assisting the City with <br />updating thc Comprehensive Plan. Brad provided a brief oveaview of what the meeting is intended to <br />accomplish. The goal of the meeting was to obtain direction from the public as to what important <br />objectives should be addressed in a plan for the futura of the lviiasiasippi River Coaidor and to educate <br />participants on what the MissLssippi National River and Rocreafion Area (MNRRA) program is about. <br /> <br />F..xer~ise " a day in the life atong the Missi~siplai River Corridor" <br />The first exercise required large group interaction and was intended to find out what the residents would <br />like to see for the furore of the Mississippi River. Brad Scheib lcd the participants in an exercise call~ "a <br />day in the iif6 along the Mississippi River Corridor." The participants were aske. zl to imagine that it was <br />an ordinary day along the Mississippi River Corridor and to express what that ordinary day would look, <br />sound or feel llke at different ~ throughout the day. The responses from thc group wer~ recorded on a <br />flip chart and p]aced on the wall.
