Norman Director of Public Works Dean Kapler Interim Finance Officer Diana Lund Community Development Assistant Sean Walther Brad Schieb, Hoisington Koegler FROM: Parks/Utilities Supervisor Mark Boos June 11, 1998 Park & Recreation Commission Meeting The purpose of this memorandum is to provide advance information for the June 11, 1998 Park & Recreation Commission Meeting. In addition, staff had the opportunity to discuss the necessity for a special June meeting to explore residents concerns for the proposed Mississippi River Trail. Staff is of the opinion that the process in place for the Comprehensive Plan (including the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area [MNNRRA] process) is adequate and, therefore, a special meeting will not be required. The following is the June agenda as of this writing: 1. Award Bids for the Used Play Equipment. 2. Five Year Capital Improvement Program (CIP). 3. Identify Resident Article for June 12th Submittal Deadline. 4. Update on Community Center. As you will recall, each year the Commission begins a detailed analysis of the Five Year CIP in June, with receipt of the consensus draft in July. At the August meeting, final adjustments are made in light of the public hearing held earlier in the evening. Typically, City Council's Finance Committee has received the CIP during late August. Attached is the Five Year CIP as last visited by the Commission. Below are issues that will need to be addressed before and during the CIP preparation:
