He stated he is not in favor of <br />this. <br /> <br />Mayor Hardin noted that according to this, 88% of Ramsey's housing is already affordable. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman pointed out that we do not meet this goal in rentals. <br /> <br />Councilmember Beyer felt that Ramsey never will meet this goal in rentals. She added that she <br />may be more in favor of this if the Metropolitan Council worked harder for communities in the <br />northern suburbs. She felt that "possible grants" did not offer much. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman stated that Ramsey could use some help with its transportation <br />system. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Hardin and seconded by Councilmember Peterson to adopt Resolution 4/96-12- <br />344 electing to continue participating in the Local Housing Incentives Account Program under the <br />Metropolitan Livable Communities Act. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Peterson and Beahen. Voting No: <br />Councilmembers Beyer and Zimmerman. <br /> <br />Case #13: Office Furniture Acquisition <br /> <br />City Administrator Schroeder explained that there is money set aside in the budget in 1996 and in <br />1997 for furnishing the new police facility and refurbishing the City Hall. Out of the 1996 budget, <br />$76,954 was available. There is an additional $25,000 set aside within the 1997 budget. Staff is <br />requesting Council authorize the completion of the furniture purchases not to exceed the 1996 total <br />allocation of $76,954 (approximately $42,000 of which is remaining) in order to outfit the <br />Community Development Department, complete the Police Department and encumber the balance <br />of the funding for 1997 purchases within Finance and Administrative Services. We expect to be <br />able to complete the Police Department for under $10,000. He disseminated a handout showing <br />purchases and the balance remaining for Finance, Administrative Services, and the Police <br />Department which is $I 6,669. This excludes the 1997 project budget. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Beyer and seconded by Councilmember zimmerman to authorize <br />expenditures from the 1996 furniture budget in an amount not to exceed the total annual authorized <br />budget of $76,954. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Hardin, Councilmembers Beyer, Zimmerman, Beahen and <br />Peterson.
