Rise serves a need in the community l~y providing VOCational training, community-based and center-based Supported employment, housing for people who are homeless or at risk of being homeless, independent living skills which help people with mental illness, and family counseling for individuals with disabilities who are unemployed, underemployed and dependent upon public sector funding. Rise programs help people develop self-sufficiency, economic independence, a place in the COmmUni .ty, and reduces public sector spending. VI. Summarize the funding. A. Rise is seeking a total of $55.000 from CDBG funds to provide funding for two vans; one will be a 15 passenger van and the other vehicle will be equipped with a chair lift, We will be requesting CDBG funds from several Anoka County communities whose residents depend upon daily transportation tO take them tO their jobs in the community, Rise i$ requesting $3,000 from the Ci_ty of Ramsey. Geographical size of project: Of the individuals Rise served in 1995, 55 percent (941) were from Anoka Coun .ty, 31 percent (521) from Hennepin County, 9 percent (158~ from Ramsey County, and 2 (31) percent from Chisago County.. Rise vehicles transport over 250. people daily from home tO work sites and home again. These individuals are unable to access other transportation options, They live in a 40-mile radius and work in over 20 different job sites ~hrough0ut the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Rise vans transport participants over 500,000 miles annually, Rise transports people as far south as Bloomington. as far west as Eden prairie and as far north as the City of St. Francis.
