The Park and Recreation Commission approved up to
$750, recognizing there would also be shipping and concrete expenses over the purchase of the net
and frame.

The Northfork Homeowners Association requested $1,675 to match their contribution of cash and
iabor ($2,435) for a rest area and landscape project in the open field on the Lake Itasca Trail
corridor. The Commission approved up to $3,250 for benches and trash receptacles - with the
majority of the funds allocated for plants and trees.

As Council will recall, up to $4,000 was approved as part of the Capital Improvement Program for
this program. Both projects meet the goals of the improvement program and will be of value to the
public at large. It is expected that both projects will be completed during the month of May.

Attached is the acknowledgment of funding letter to both associations as well as their individual
proposals.

Council will note that some of the information in the actual Improvement Program application is
outdated. Staff is in the process of making revisions for Commission approval. An updated
application will be forwarded to each Councilmember. One change to the program the
Commission considered in the past was stating an area of emphasis for any given year (i.e.,
beautification using flowers). This would be most helpful when the program has applicant
requests beyond the level of funding available.

Should you have questions or comments on the program, please do not hesitate to contact a Park
and Recreation Commission member or me.

@jo/Council and Commissions/Council/ I 997/February 25
