I I I I i I PERSONNEL COMMITTEE CITY OF RAMSEY ANOKA COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA The Ramsey Personnel Committee conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, April 8, 1997, at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. Members Present: Mayor Tom Gamec Councilmember Sheila Beyer Councilmember Natalie Haas Steffen Also Present: Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman City Administrator Ryan Schroeder Administrative Services Manager Linda Waite Smith Acting Police Chief David Gustafson CALL TO ORDER I I I Councilmember Beyer called the regular meeting of the Personnel Committee to order at 6:12 p.m. CITIZEN INPUT None COMMITTEE BUSINESS ! t Case #1: Recommendation for Police Chief Selection Administrative Services Manager Waite Smith disseminated an addendum to this case with the consensus of the discussion following the interview for the Police Chief. City Administrator Schroeder presented a table showing wage ranges for police chiefs in Stanton Class 6 cities. Discussion ensued relating to wage and increases, pay for performance and performance reviews, as well as past practices in hiring department heads, etc. I I I i I Motion by Councilmember Haas Steffen and seconded by Mayor Gamec to recommend Council appoint David Gustafson to the Police Chief position, effective April 9, 1997, at a salary of $56,303 (the mid-point of the salary range for the position), with a performance review being done at five months (September 1997) and 11 months (March 1998) with no pay increases at that time, (he would be included in the annual pay increase in January 1998) and that he present a work plan to Council by the end of the 1998 budget preparation period.
