Pertains to Case #21 <br /> Agenda 5/27/97 <br /> <br /> MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />DATE: May 23, 1997 <br /> <br />TO: Mayor and Councilmembers <br />FROM: Steve Jankowski, City Engineer <br /> <br />RE: Consultant Section IP #97-18 Industrial Park Street and Storm Water <br /> Improvements <br /> <br />Attached are the three proposals we received on Friday relating to the Alpine sewer and water <br />extension. The proposal costs are summarized below. <br /> <br />Basic Engineering Services (not-to-exceed) <br />Technical Services (budget estimate) <br /> <br />Soil Boring/Material Testing (budget <br />estimate) <br /> <br />Hakanson Howard R. John Oliver <br />Anderson Green & Assoc. <br /> (MSA) <br />7,350 12,300 6,450 <br /> <br /> 10,700 14,700 9,700 <br /> 800 .... <br /> <br />The City's request asked for a not-to-exceed maximum price for basic engineering services while <br />technical services were to be compensated on an hourly basis with an estimate for budgeting <br />purposes. The costs for Basic Engineering Services, which include those services which are <br />most predictable for the scope of the described work, are $900 between Hakanson Anderson and <br />John Oliver & Associates. The cost of Technical Services, which would include construction <br />staking, inspection and preparation of the as-built plans, is also reasonably consistent among all <br />three consultants. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />It is my recommendation that we award the engineering services contract to John Oliver & <br />Associates who submitted the lowest not-to-exceed price for Basic Engineering Services. <br /> <br />SJJ/jmt <br />mere9718.doc <br /> <br /> <br />
