This group is the Women of Today, a community sarvi and leadership ~raining organization %,itb over !50 chapters in Minnesota. and chap%ers in ~5 eta%es across %he Nation. The Woman of Today e×eoul many community projects, offer personal enrichment courses, and do pro~ra: in conjunction ~i~h s~vara! major foundations such as ~arch of Dimes, Kidney Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis, and more. I This group is being e~tended by thc Anoka Women of Today, a very stable and long-~:andin~ chapter. Just a fa%, of %he projects sponsored the ~oka chap%er each year are the annual Bunny Brunch and Egg Bun% at local elementary school, ~unding ~or an Anoka Youth Athletic Associa%il Softball team, ~:ivities for senior citizenm, ~nd are leaders iD "Toys for Joy" %~ith the Anoka County Christ,,as Committee. Donamions have bean giv~ %o the local high school senior par~y, =be city library, books for Learnin~ Center, F~D, D~_R~, and a schc!arsb, ip for an ou~standim~ hi~b school s~uden%. We are active participants in the Anoka Chamber Commerce, and we work together ~'itb the high school utilizing etude: voltmteers. Using the leadership skills ~ained in the Women of Today, members have gone on to be leaders in our organization and in the com~uni-~, as school board members, coordinators of major conumuni~? projects, and Sma~e Staff officers for the Women of Today. Our hope is that establishing a chapter in Ramsay, these members will reach out to make Ramsey a be~ter place to live. I Unfo~zunately, we have encountered an-obstacle in getting this chap%er off the ground - finding a pe~,anen5 meetin~ location. We need a space 1.0-20 people to meez once a month for a couple of hours. In saatchi. throughout Ramsay, ~t seems that abe community room a~ City Ha!! would an ideal location. However, ~e cannot afford the fee that is charged. We ~ry ~o keep our dues %o a minimum, so that anyone can afford to join. ~a and ~aans projects' %,i!i be done %0 cover such items as postage for -' - monthly newsletter, prinming cos%s, and o~her e×penses. We would be u'i!!ing to put do'wn a reasonable deposit, but the monthly fee curren%.~ recuired would make the usa of this room totally unobtainable.
