Guideline Recommendations
Development patterns within Ramsey Town Center will be
completely unlike previous development within the city. A
striking new model for suburban communities, development
within the center will be more compact, higher density and
intentionally linked to the broader community in myriad ways.
Ramsey Town Center is, after ail, Ramsey's new downtown,
and is therefore a part of the entire community, not simply a
new shopping center along Highway 10.
Development within the Town Center should connect to
regional and citywide trail systems, encourage use of proposed
city and regional transit (including being "commuter rail-ready"
when the Northstar Line is funded), tie into and reinforce the
Ramsey utility network, integrate with and complement the
existing street framework, and become a seamless part of the
drainage patterns that migrate through the town center site.

Examples
· The Town Center design and all new private development in-
the Center should accommodate stormwater from new
'projects and from off-site, and highlight it as an amenity in
the development.
· Bikeways and pedestrian routes into the center from the
adjacent community must be carefully considered to inSure
that a child on a bicycle can come downtown as easily as an
automobile driver.
· Open space will be immediately accessible for ail Town
Center residents, but also for visitors and those who work in
the development. The connected green system is reminiscent
' of the world renowned "Grand Rounds" of Minneapolis.

Overview
Although unique to Ramsey, the Town Center is not intended to
be a stand alone district within the overafl context of the City,
but instead, will be a part of, and connect with, a variety of
local, city-wide and regional systems including streets, parks,
trails, transit, drainage patterns, utilities and others. By
extension, each development project, whether a single building,
one lot, or a series of btocks, must provide reasonable links to
these systems as a primary design objective.

Regional Tr~sit Map
~o~ Pa~s, Trails Map
