We find the plat acceptable for
further development with consideration of the following comments.

Enclosed is a copy of our most recent data on the alignment of the highway centerline.
The plat should be consistent with this. I am sending a copy to the County Surveyor also.
Questions may be directed to Gene Nelson of our Surveys Section at 797-3112.

Whether temporary or permanent, the proposed access to TH 47 will serve a significant
amount of traffic -- perhaps 1400 new trips per day. Construction of a fight turn lane on
southbound TH 47 and a let~ turn lane on northbound TH 47 will be required. Some
additional fight-of-way may be needed for these lanes. The cost of the lanes and any
needed right-of-way will be the responsibility of the project proposer, the city, or both.

A Mn/DOT access permit is required. A plan view of the proposed access, showing the
required turn lanes, must be submitted with the permit application. Enclosed are
specifications for right turn lanes; the left turn lane specifications will be confirmed at the
time of permit review. The permit application must be filed by the city if the new access is
to be a city street. Further information and the appropriate forms may be obtained from
Bill Warden of our Perm/ts Unit at 582-1443 or the above address.

Because of the significant cost of constructing turn lanes, and because the proposed access
is inconsistent with the TH 47 Corridor Study guidelines, we recormuend against
constructing this "temporary" access. We urge the city to instead work with neighboring
property owners to implement now a permanent access that is consistent with the corridor

An equal opportunity, employer
