Pertains to Case #9
Agenda 6/24/97

MEMORANDUM

DATE: June 23, 1997

TO: Mayor and Councilmembers
FROM: Steve Jankowski, City Engineer
RE: Consultant Section IP #97-21 Alpine Park Development

Attached are the three proposals for engineering service we received on Friday relating to the
Alpine Park development. The proposal costs are summarized below.

Basic Engineering Services (not-to-exceed)
Technical Services (budget estimate)

Soil Boring/Material Testing
estimate)

(budget

Hakanson Howard R. John Oliver
Anderson Green & Assoc.
(MSA)
9,980 8,000 10,430

10,100 13,000 15,485
3,000 -- 2,200

The City's request asked for a not-to-exceed maximum price for basic engineering services while
technical services were to be compensated on an hourly basis with an estimate for budgeting
purposes. The cost of Technical Services, which would include construction staking, inspection
and preparation of the as-built plans, is also reasonably consistent among all three consultants.

Recommendation:

It is my recommendation that we award the engineering services contract to Howard R. Green
(MSA) who submitted the lowest not-to-exceed price for Basic Engineering Services.

SJJ/jmt

9721.doc
