As I mentioned, we have awarded the paving contract for McKinley Street. This project should start in two or three weeks. It will include paving of Azurite from McKinley, north about 200 feet. It does not include paving of Azurite from that point to 141st. The cost of completing the paving to 141st is $56,400. The portion attributable to the four existing industrial properties is $31,483. My proposal to you and the City Council is for the City to provide funding sufficient to extend the project to the Vance property including sewer, water, curb and gutter at a cost of $24,917 ($56,400 - $31,483). It is expected that there would be some curbing alongside the Vance property, as well as municipal utilities. The utilities, however, will not be stubbed into the Vance property and, therefore, connection would not be required. It is also proposed that the City write down the cost of the project north of that point by $19,484 leaving an assessable portion of $11,999. The proposed assessments are as follows: Morrell: $1,808 VeVe: 3,441 Bake Star: 2,750 Vance: 4,000 The assessments would be Ievied at 8.5% over a ten year per/od with the first payment made in I998. I have enclosed a petition for your consideration.. If the property owners are interested in this proposal, they should sign the petition initiating the process. Please note that due to some time constraints, we are asking for waivers of the public hearing process. Also, if the neighborhood is interested in this project, a fairly quick response would be appreciated. Thank you for your assistance with this matter.
