The area to be mined and graded is in excess of 40 acres. The actual
slt~ to be graded measures 40.1 acres and is bounded on the north by Fox Knoll subdivision; on the
east by wetland; on the west by S~_~h Lake Boulevard and Sunfish Lake; and on the south by
additional property owned by the applicant. The topography of the site is relatively flat throughout.
The elevation is approximately 890. Varied topography occurs along the lake and wetland. The
proposed grading plan vAll reduce the elevation fi-om approximately 890 to 878, 12 feet. The grade
from Fox Knoll Second Addition would be approx/mately a 4 percent slope. The slope along the
eastern edge oft_he wetland would be approxSmately 1 percent grade for a distance of 350 feet. The
proposal includes $~imentatlon control during construction. The area will be graded in 5-acre
parcels. Each parcel ~ be excavated to its final contour before the next five acres are started. Top
soil will be spread over the finished area. The City has proposed the condition that prior to the firxt
area being excavated, consideration be given to the 150-foot strip adjacent to Fox Knoll, and that it
be graded down to its final grade and be restored with trees to provide a buffer for Fox Knoll
residents.

Public 3Rearing/PLanning Commissi°n/July 1, 1997
Page 1 of 2
