The Northfork Homeowners Association has attempted to address these situations on our

own~

Speeding: In some cases, homeowners have approached neighbors who they
feel are driving too fast, and we have published an article in our neighborhood
newsletter requesting residents to lower their speed to the posted 35 miles per
hour. However, we have no way of reaching the construction tra~c, which
otSen exceeds 50 miles per hour, and usually consists of large trucks containing
heavy loads.
2. Traffic Control Signs: No action taken here.
3. Northfork Park: In the summer of I995 and the summer of I996, the City of
Ramsey Public Works Department was contacted in regards to installing a sign
announcing the Northfork park when approaching it from 160th Lane driving
west. Both times we were told a sign would be forthcoming, and both
summers came and went without a new sign being installed. So we took
matters into our own hands and added a "Children at Play" sign on westbound
160th Lane. We also added a "Stop" sign on the park trail as it exits onto
160th Lane.
4. Tornado Siren: When the monthly testing of the siren occurred on July 2, I
phoned the City of Ramsey police department to inform them of the problems.
To date, the siren speaker has not been repaired and the siren pole has not been
straightened.
5. City Trail: No action taken here.

At this time, the Northfork Homeowners Association is requesting that the City of
Ramsey help improve the traffic safety conditions of our neighborhood by making the
following improvements:
1. Speeding:
· Increase the frequency in which the police monitor traffic speed. This
should take place during daytime working hours, when construction
traffic is at its highest.
· Add more speed limit signs throughout the neighborhood.. An informal
survey of homeowners has concluded that most don't know the speed
limit in the development and most are not aware that there are speed
limit signs in the existing locations. I'm sure the city has regulations on
the proper placement of speed limit signs in a residential area which
could be used to place additional signs in the neighborhood.
2. Traffic Control Signs:
Here is another area where I am sure that the city has regulations on
what type of intersections require a STOP sign, a YIELD sign, or no
sign at all. We would like to understand these regulations and add ·
additional signs to the intersections of our neighborhood. We would
also like the city to consider making 160th and .~mdrie a three-way
stop, to protect the children entering and exiting the park.
3. Northfork Park: No action required at this time.

c '~tata~,tm c h c'rm orth fot'~mem~l cXl etl c'm ~l cl~.c~ I g doc

I
!
I
'1
I
!
!
I
I
I
I
I
I

I
I
I
I
I
I
