CASE# 4 <br /> <br /> CONSIDER RECOMMENDATION HIRE <br /> ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR <br /> Ryan Schroeder, City Administrator <br /> Linda Waite Smith, Administrative Services Manager <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The Economic Development Coordinator is resigning to accept a position with another <br />City, effective September 19, 1997. <br /> <br />The original job description, entitled project manager, is attached to this case. The <br />position is in Class 10 of Ramsey's Compensation Classification Plan with a salary range <br />of $24,925 to $33,682 annually. <br /> <br />The Economic Development Coordinator is responsible for a wide range of duties: <br /> Developing and maintaining relationships with the business community. <br /> <br /> Develops and implements marketing program for community and development <br /> opportunities. <br /> <br /> Prepares, implements and monitors agreements for development and financial <br /> assistance. <br /> <br /> Helps resolve complaints of business owners. <br /> <br /> Handles closings of all land transfers involved in development. <br /> <br /> Plans, coordinates and promotes special events such as semi-annual <br /> Recycling Day and annual Business Appreciation Day. <br /> <br /> Serves as staff liaison to the City's Economic Development Commission. <br /> <br /> Plans and implements the City's solid waste and recycling program. <br /> <br /> Coordinates Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District development and <br /> expansion. <br /> <br /> Prepares and provides proposals for prospective Industrial Park businesses. <br /> <br /> Complies with reporting requirements for grants and Tax Increment Financing <br /> Districts. <br /> <br /> <br />
