CASE #

AWARD BIDS FOR CITY HALL REROOFING (IMPROVEMENT PROJECT #97-24)
By: Steven Jankowski, City Engineer

Background:

Within the 1997 budget, $60,000 was allocated for the reroofing of the remaining four sections
of the City Hall roof that were not replaced in 1992. Unlike those sections over the fire garage
and the mall area which were replaced, these remaining four sections are not leaking. However,
the roof is twenty years old. Replacement at this point can be more economical than waiting
until leakage occurs, since the replacement of wet insulation can be relatively expensive.

A specification and authorization for soliciting bids for the replacement of the roof with a four-
ply modified asphalt built-up roof was approved by Council on August 26, 1997. Bids are
scheduled to be opened on Friday, September 19, 1997.

Recommendation:

To be presented at the Council meeting.

Council Action: ~
Motion to adopt Resolution 97-0 - receiving bids and awarding contract for Improvement
Project #97-24 to

Reviewed by:

City Engineer
City Administrator
Administrative Services Manager
Finance Officer

CC:09/23/97
@shared/councilc/reroof. doc

/I
