§ 8~0 prevent the contamination of any existing or future water supp]y by existing or future sewage disposal system. However, the systems, procedures, and other requirements of this chapter are not to be construed such as to afford direct protection to an individual landowner, but rather the purpose of this chapter is to adopt a genera] public policy relating to sewage disposal and clean water supplies. 8.30.02 Definitions. For the purpose of this chapter, certain terms or words used hereLu shall be interpreted as follows: The word "shall" is mandatory; the words "should" and "may" are permlssive~ Alt distances, unless otherwise specified, shell be measured horizontally. Baffle is a device Lus~alled in a septic tank for proper operation of the tank and to provide max~m~ra retention of sol'ds, and includes vented sanitary tees and submerged pipes in addition to those devices that are normally called baffles. Bedroom is any room witb{c a dwelling that, in the judg~nent of the zoning officer, might reasonably be used as a sleeping room, including but not limited to rooms designated as den, or, ce, or study, and ~mf~uished areas with potential development to ss_me.
