I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I § 8..3O Distribution Pipes are perforated pipes or agricultural drain tiles that are used to distribute sewage ~nl~ effluent in a so{] treatment system. Perforated pipe used for distribution pipes shall have one or more rows of ho]es of no more than 1/2-inch in diameter spaced no more than 36 inches apart. Ho]es shall be spaced to prevent bearing capacity of not less than 800 pounds per linear foot. Distribution Device is a device which is used to distribute sewage tank effluent to the distribution pipes, including but not limited to distribution boxes, drop boxes, and valve boxes. Dosing ChaInber (or p;~rnp pit or wet well) is a tenor or separate comparb~ent follow~n~ the sewage tank which serves as a reservoir for the doing device. Drainfield is also called tile disposal field or soil absorption field and uses distribution pipes placed in favorable soil so that sewage from the septic tank can percolate tkrough and into the soil. Dwelling is any building or place used or intended to be used by human occupants as a single-f~rn{]y or two-f~rn{]y unit. Filter Material is clean rock, crushed igneous rock, or similar insoluble, durable, and decay-resistant material free from dust, sand, si]t, or clay. The size shall range from 1.25-inch minim~rn diameter to 2.5 inches effective diameter. lZIolr~ing T~ulr is a watertight tank for storage of sewage until it can be transported to a point of approved disposal. Impermeable, with regards to soils, is a soil horizon or layer having a vertical permeability less than l~inch in 24 hours and shall be considered impermeable.' Individual Sewage Treatment System is a sewage treatment system, or part thereof, serving a dwe]Hng or other sm_a]] living or business unit, or group thereof, which utilizes subsurface soil treatment and disposal. Lav~n Area is the area bounded by the dimensions required for the proper location of the soil treatment area. Mottling is a zone of chemical oxidation and reduction actixdty appearing as splotchy patches of red, brown, orange and gray. l~o,,n_d System is a system where the soil treatment area is built above the ground to overcome ]~r~ts imposed by pro~rn~ty to water table or bedrock, or by rapidly or slowly permeable soils. Percolation lqate is the time rate of drop of a water surface in a test hole as specified in §$.30.04 Subd. 6 (Final Treatment And Disposal Standard System) of this chapter. t~lastic LLmit is soil moisture content below which the soil may be manipulated for purposes of installing a soil treatment system and above which manipulation will cause compaction and puddling.
