Mayor Garnet felt that it's good to be involved in these types of memberships as there is a lot of assistance they can lend the City. More involvement may lead to more things happening for the north end of the Metro Area. Councilmember Haas Stcffen stated that you cannot become a player if you sit by yourself- big voices get heard. Mayor Gamec felt it was important that the City have representatives at the meetings also. Motion by Mayor Garnet and seconded by Councilmember Beahen to accept membership in the Association of Metropolitan Municipalities for the duration of 1997, at a cost of $972. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Beahen, Beyer and Haas Steffen. Voting No: Councilmember Zimmerman. MAYOR AND COUNCIL INPUT 1) Meetings A. Mayor Gamec reported on a meeting he atte;nded with regard to the Humane Society. The Society is forming a task force. Finance Officer Hart stated that communities have been meeting on how to help out the Society. B. Mayor Gamec stated that more funding for the northern corridor and rail has been requested from Washington. C. Mayor Gamec talked about the right-of-way access on County Roads. The County would like better review of the roads and to be able to review plats for access. D. Mayor Gamec stated there will be regular joint Mayor's meetings. 2) Groundbreaking City Administrator Schroeder announced a 5:30 groundbreaking for Minnesota Tool, scheduled for September 30. 3) Mr. Schroeder's Last Meeting City Administrator Schroeder announced that this would be his last Council meeting.
