More involvement may lead to more things happening for the <br /> north end of the Metro Area. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Haas Stcffen stated that you cannot become a player if you sit by yourself- big <br /> voices get heard. <br /> <br /> Mayor Gamec felt it was important that the City have representatives at the meetings also. <br /> <br /> Motion by Mayor Garnet and seconded by Councilmember Beahen to accept membership in the <br /> Association of Metropolitan Municipalities for the duration of 1997, at a cost of $972. <br /> <br /> Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Beahen, Beyer and Haas Steffen. <br /> Voting No: Councilmember Zimmerman. <br /> <br /> MAYOR AND COUNCIL INPUT <br /> <br /> 1) Meetings <br /> <br /> A. Mayor Gamec reported on a meeting he atte;nded with regard to the Humane Society. The <br /> Society is forming a task force. <br /> <br /> Finance Officer Hart stated that communities have been meeting on how to help out the Society. <br /> <br /> B. Mayor Gamec stated that more funding for the northern corridor and rail has been requested <br /> from Washington. <br /> <br /> C. Mayor Gamec talked about the right-of-way access on County Roads. The County would <br /> like better review of the roads and to be able to review plats for access. <br /> <br />D. Mayor Gamec stated there will be regular joint Mayor's meetings. <br /> <br />2) Groundbreaking <br /> <br />City Administrator Schroeder announced a 5:30 groundbreaking for Minnesota Tool, scheduled <br />for September 30. <br /> <br />3) Mr. Schroeder's Last Meeting <br /> <br />City Administrator Schroeder announced that this would be his last Council meeting.
