NOTE CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br />The Park and Recreation Commission noted the City Council public hearing and regular meeting <br />minutes dated August 12, 1997, and the City Council regular meeting minutes dated August 26, <br />1997, <br />Mr. Boos noted inadvertent confusion in mailing the meeting's agenda for future reference. <br />COMMISSION BUSINESS: <br />Case 91: Recommend Park Dedication for Deal Commercial Center <br />Mr. Boos talked about two new lots to be created from replatting of Lot 1 of the Deal Industrial <br />Park. The two new lots will be located directly west of the existing Pro -Sporting Goods. One new <br />business may be a Schwinn bicycle shop. <br />This type of business is considered commercial which, in a cash payment park dedication, would equal <br />5% of fair market value, or $2.00 per square foot (whichever is greater). Proceeds would be <br />contributed to the Marble Recreation District. Mr. Boos recommended acceptance of a cash <br />dedication. <br />Motion by Commissioner Johns and seconded by Commissioner Rolfe to accept a cash dedication <br />equaling 5% of fair market value, or $2.00 per square foot (whichever is greater) to be contributed <br />to the Marble Recreation District. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chair Cook; Commissioners Johns, Rolfe, Droegemueller, LaMere, and <br />Ostrum. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioner Asfahl. <br />Case 42: Alpine Parks Construction Status <br />Mr. Boos referred to page sixteen of the agenda packet which contained the park's construction <br />schedule. Completion of grading is expected during the week of October 20, 1997. <br />Commissioner Droegemueller inquired about the moratorium scheduled to take effect on October 22, <br />1997, and whether it would adversely affect development of the park. Mr. Boos responded Alpine <br />Park is exempt from the moratorium since this project was already in process as well as Alpine <br />Estates. Monies (approximately $400,000 minus $60,000 for sewer and water trunk line) for <br />development of the park have already been received. <br />The potential goal of some spring is expected to be met. Decisions will need to be made regarding <br />sod placement in the infield area in 1998. <br />Mr. Boos encouraged Commission members to drive by on 153rd Avenue which overlooks the park. <br />Park and Recreation Commission/October 9, 1997 <br />Page 2 of 4 <br />
