I

I
I
I

I

CASE

CONSIDER EXTENSION OF RESIDENTIAL REZONING
AND SUBDIVIDING MORATORIUM
By: William K. Goodrich, City Attorney

Background:

On June 10, 1997, the Council passed a six month development moratorium on residential
rezoning and subdividing. That moratorium will expire on January 13, 1998. The
Comprehensive Plan Amendment and studies are proceeding in a timely fashion. However, this
process will not be completed by the January 13, 1998 expiration date of the current moratorium.
Therefore, an extension is necessary in order to protect this planning process. On December 3,
1997, at your special meeting, this ordinance was introduced.

Enclosures:

1. Ordinance 97-07 which is the original six month moratorium ordinance.

2. Proposed extension ordinance.

Recommendation:

Staff recommends adoption of the enclosed extension ordinance which will extend the residential
development moratorium until June 13, 1998. In the event the Comprehensive Plan Amendment
is completed prior to that date, the Council can repeal the moratorium.

Council Action:
Adopt Ordinance 97-/} which is an ordinance
development moratorium for an additional 6 months.

extending the term of the residential

Reviewed by:

Acting City Administrator
Zoning Administrator

/53
