DICK KIMBLER
5565--164~ AVE NW
RAMSEY, MN 55303
(612) 422-1552

January 13, 1997

IB RECF__,IVE
JAN 1 5 1997

Linda Waite Smith
Administrative Services Manager
City of Ramsey
15153 Nowthen Blvd. NW
Ramsey, MN 55303

Dear Ms. Smith:

I am hereby requesting appointment to the Charter Commission of the
City of Ramsey.

My wife Janet and myself have been residents of Ramsey since 1982. We
operated a beef farm on County Rd 63 until selling the entire operation
and land to the Green Valley Greenhouse in 1991. We moved to a new home
on the south side of the Rum River Golf course.

I am the Regional Manager of United Funding Corporation, a mobile home
finance company operating out of 45 states. I hold a Divinity Degree
from the Minneapolis School of Theology and am licensed as a Minister
with IMF and minister to the homeless and gangs in downtown Minneapolis
on a part-time basis. I also attended Crosby-Ironton High school~ graduating
with honors and the Rochester Institute of Technology and Anoka-Ramsey COllege.

My background in municipal affairs is as follows: I have first hand knowledge
of the government and more specifically the election process since I was
a Republican candidate for the 1994 election for Secretary of State. More
recently I was the endorsed candidate for State Senator (R) in District 50
and have knocked on thousands of homeowner's doors in the City. I have a
good pulse of the people and the needs of the community.

I serve on the Legislative Committee for the Minnesota Manufactured Housing
Association, also as a delegate to the State Republican party and have
served on various committees. I was instrumental back in the 70's to
work closely with the City of Blaine on street and sidewalk improvements
for the children walking to the elementary schools. My wife and myself
also served on the Principal's Advisory Committee in both Roosevelt Middle
School and Blaine High School.

I believe the Commission needs new ideas and a fresh approach to tackling the
expansion of MUSA and not least, election ideas within the City.

tf appointed, I would consider it a privilege to serve on the Charter
Commission !

Sincerely~ / /
