FITNESS EVALUATION <br /> ..... '~' <br />POLICY : ,! <br /> <br />The Brooklyn Park Fire Department recognizes that many of the tasks <br />performed by members are physical and stressful. Each member will <br />be able to handle any physical task as outlined in the department's <br />job description for fir,fighters, on any emergency response ore'ny <br />stressful situation that may occur. The Board of officers has <br />approved the following. <br /> <br />PROCEDURE <br /> <br />Any medical evaluation or physical ability testing program <br />shall be approved by the Board of officers. <br /> <br />Each new prospective hire, on complet~Sh-of interview process, <br />and ~ recommended for hire, shall complete and pass the <br />physical ability test. Thereafter, shall complete and pass <br />the physical ability test every two years. Any new <br />prospective hire who cannot pass the physical ability test <br />shall be dropped from the hiring process. <br /> <br />Each new prospective hire, on completion and passingA the <br />physical ability test, shall complete and pass a complete <br />medical evaluation. Any new prospective hire who cannot pass <br />the medical evaluation ~C shall be dropped from the hiring <br />process· <br /> <br />Each active member shall complete and pass a medical <br />evaluation and physical ability test every two years. <br /> <br />If any examined member is found to have medical problems and <br />cannot pass the medical evaluation, he/she will be placed on <br />medical leave immediately. <br /> <br />Any member who does not complete and pass the physical ability <br />test shall be notified of their failure to pass the physical <br />ability test and'~granted up to a 90 day grace period <br />to prepare for a second test. If member fails to pass the <br />physical ability test on the second try, member shall be <br />dismissed for failure to meet the physical demand requirements <br />for the position of firefighter. <br /> <br />Any member who fails/refuses to take the physical ability test <br />or medical evaluation as outlined above shall be subject to <br />dismissal. <br /> <br />125\FITNES$.POL (03/04/94) <br /> <br /> <br />
