It is a celebration of nauru. <br /> <br />Stewardship of the land has preserved and protected <br />ecosystems in their ~_nn~'al conditions. Park amenitie~ are <br />designed and managed with sensitivity to the natural <br />resources, to provide sustainable recreation today and in <br />the future. <br /> <br />The natural character of the park system allows us to <br />re-create ourselves and to recreate az well. We offer <br />recreational and interpretive programs that focus on <br />learning experiences. These program~q are about the <br />natural amenities, unique features and historical resources <br />of Anoka County. Interpretive servic,~ are available in <br />many locations throughout the system. <br /> <br />Our programming also reflects the variety of people <br />who use the System; families, users with special needs <br />and interests, and all age groups. We provide <br />accessibility for those with special needs. Community <br />members are participants in the programming process. <br /> <br />As a natural gathering place, our park system <br />encourages use by a broad cross-section of the <br />community. Open space, facilities, and services are <br />located geographically where they can make the most <br />impact or highlight a particular System attribute. <br />Information about our System and services is readily <br />available. <br /> <br />Although recreation is typically unstructured, <br />facilities and-services of'community interest are offered. <br />Greenways connect system parks with local communities <br />and points of interest. They create opportunities for a <br />wide variety of trail activities. Ongoing activities do not <br />encroach on each other. <br /> <br />Our Park System is identifiable by appropriate, unique <br />architectural standards that are reflective of their natural <br />surroundings. Individual parks are designed to enhance <br />or call attention to particular attributes -- they are <br />attractive, and well maintained. We promote positive, <br />safe havens for children and others, and security is a <br />priority. <br /> <br />Adequate and appropriate funding sources have been <br />achieved, resulting in improved and increased <br />experiences within the Park System. Cost-effective, <br />innovative leadership processes are in place throughout <br />the System. Parks and facilities are fully developed and <br />operational; trained staff and adequate staffing levels <br />reflect an improved funding situation. <br /> <br />Preservation and protection of natural ecosystems are <br />reflected in the land use and Systcnn policies. <br /> <br />MISSION <br /> <br />Having adopted a clear vision o£what the park system is <br />to be, the planning effort that followed included <br />preparation of a mission statement that describes the <br />direction that will be taken by county governing bodies, <br />adminisWatom, support staff and volunteers to achieve the <br />vision.
