The description shall include site address, location and layout <br /> of the system on the site, type and design of system ~n~talled, type of buildin~ served <br /> and the results of the site suitabi]dty analysis (percolation tests and/or soil borings). <br /> <br /> Sub& P. Exi~th~$ Sy~ <br /> <br /> a. The pl,~r~bin~ inspector or his designated representative shall <br /> develop, or cause to be developed, a proEram whereby existLng <br /> systern~ are inspected to deterrn~ue compliance. The inspection <br /> shall be done by the plumbing inspector, his designated <br /> representative or the homeowner. If the homeowner does not <br /> choose to make his own inspection, then he may, by written <br /> request and payment of an inspect[on fee as deter~,,~ned by City <br /> Council resolution, request the ph~rnbing inspector to make the <br /> in/rial inspection. The inspection shall be conducted so as to <br /> cause rn~n~rn,~rn damage to the property. It shah be the duty of <br /> the owner or occupant of the property to g~ve the plumbing <br /> inspector or his designated representative free access to the <br /> property at reasonable t~rnes for the purpose of m~ldng all system <br /> inspecti OhS. <br /> <br /> b. The pI~rnbing Lnspector, or his designated representative or the <br /> homeowner shall inspect every individual waste disposal system <br /> v~th~n the C~ty of Raznsey every ~4 months to ensure continued <br /> compliance w-ith this chapter. Du_rlng this routine Lnspection, the <br /> plumbing inspector shall specifically determine the need for <br /> sludge and/or scuzn remora] from septic tanks based on <br /> measurements of existing conditions, iVfaxim~:rn allowable <br /> levels, determined as outlined in §8.30.05 Subd. 2c. Septage <br /> should be removed from the t~n~ whenever the top of the sludge <br /> layer is ]ess than 12 inches below the bottom of the out]et baf[le or <br /> whenever the bottom of the sc~rn layer is less than 3 Lnches above <br /> : the bottom of the outlet bst~le. <br /> <br /> c. Scum can be measured with a stick to which a weighted flap has <br /> been hinged or v~th any device wl~ch can be used to detect the <br /> bottom of the sc~rn mat. The stick is forced through the mat, the <br /> hinged flap falls h/to a horizontal position, and the stick is rs/sed <br /> unt/] resistance from the bottom of the scum ~s felt. The sazne <br /> device can be used to deterrn~ne the distance to the septic tank <br /> outlet device. A long stick wrapped with rough absorbent <br /> material and lowered to the bottom will show the depth of sludge <br /> and the liquid depth. The stick must be lowered in such a tank <br /> location as to avoid ~nrepresentative readings that might be <br /> caused by interference from the saturn layer. <br /> <br /> Subd. 3. Approved Systems.
