I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br />'1 <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> <br />AWARD ENGINEERING CONTRACT FOR <br />THE EXTENSION OF McKINLEY STREET <br />By: Steve Jankowski, City Engineer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />At the De2ember 12, 1995 Council meeting, the Road and Bridge Committee <br />recommended, and Council approved, the solicitation of engineering proposals to extend <br />McKinley Street a distance of 1,000 feet and provide underground utilities to service the <br />EDM Inc. parcel and develop the marketability of industrial property to the east. At that <br />meeting, it was recommended that proposals for this work be sought from three firms. All <br />three of thesa, firms have submitted proposals which are attached to this case. A summary <br />of the costs aSsociated with each proposal is su, mmarized below. <br /> <br />Basic Engineering Services <br /> Design, Bidding, <br /> Contract Administration <br /> <br /> MSA <br /> <br />$5,000 <br /> <br />Hakanson John <br />Andersgn Oliver <br /> <br />$6,700 $10,380 <br /> <br />Technical Engineering Services <br /> Inspection and Staking <br /> <br />$4,500 $9,600 $11,500 <br /> <br />Sub-Consultant Services <br /> Soils and Testing <br /> <br />$1,400 $4,000 $ 4,000 <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />The scope of this project is well within the capabilities of each of these engineering firms. <br />Staff recommends award to MSA based on economic considerations. <br /> <br />Council Action: <br /> <br />Motion to enter into engineering contract with MSA Consulting Engineers based upon the <br />letter proposal dated January 16, 1996. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br /> <br />City Engineer <br />City Administrator <br />Finance Officer <br /> <br />CC: 01/23/96 <br />/jmt <br /> <br />16~3 <br /> <br /> <br />
